Toolmaker

Otter Controls Limited has been a leading manufacturer of thermostats, safety cut-outs and other sensing devices for the electrical, automotive and domestic appliance industries throughout the world for almost 80 years.

We are looking to add to our Toolroom staff with a fully qualified and experienced Toolmaker

Role

Applicants should be time-served and competent in taking out and regrinding press tools, making machine spares, using wire eroders, spark eroders and milling and grinding and improvement activity, designing and manufacturing components and improvements to machines and helping with preventative maintenance.  In particular:

• Interpret detailed engineering drawings, working to high tolerances
• Manufacture production spares using a range of machinery including – Manual miller, lathe, surface grinder, EDM die sinking machine, wire eroder, CNC miller
• Accurately use measuring equipment to ensure all manufactured parts are within tolerance
• Repair, maintain and improve press and mould tools
• Efficiency improvement in various processes

Hours

Based on a 2 shift pattern, 6-2 and 2-10 working 38 hours per week

Salary

Depending on experience, the salary will be up to £36K per year
